For over 14 years, Dr. Deb Gorton has been practicing, directing, building, developing, equipping, and partnering. As a clinical psychologist, she is fascinated by what drives decision-making and change. She is in constant pursuit of awareness and big picture perspective. What it all comes down to – navigating our purpose requires creating a bridge between our head and the heart. She loves creating bridges, inspiring courage in others to make the journey across and then leading others to do the same.

Dr. Gorton earned both her MA in Psychology and her PhD in Clinical Psychology from Fuller Graduate School of Psychology in Pasadena, CA.  Additionally, she holds an MA in Theology from Fuller Theological Seminary. Presently, she serves as the Director of Moody Theological Seminary’s Masters in Clinical Mental Health Counseling Program as well as Moody's Counseling Center.  She is also the founding president of Siv Consultation (where she really gets to do all the fun stuff listed above).

Dr. Gorton currently resides in Chicago, loves the Cubs, Chicago architecture, and, believe it or not, public transportation. If she’s not home in the city or traveling for work, you’re likely to find her with family in Colorado, Oregon, or Oklahoma (family never makes it easy, do they!?).

Dr. Deb Gorton believes...

  • every person was created with a purpose – a purpose that drives our decisions, influences our actions, and serves as the foundation for our identity.

  • pursuing our purpose requires intentionality and a willingness to get uncomfortable.

  • embracing our purpose is often hindered by the everyday noise that muddies the lens through which we view ourselves, our relationships, and the world around us.

  • the bridge between knowing our purpose and living it out requires the discipline of pausing in a world full of “go.”

  • being our purpose requires the willingness to be fully engaged in broadening our perspectives.

I’m a change agent and I believe we’re in this together because collaboration in community produces radical transformation.

Dr. Gorton is driven by five simple values:

Jesus.

He challenged radical thinking by asking provocative questions.

Relationships.

We’re more willing to engage uncomfortable growth when we’re not in the journey alone.

Wisdom.

Every experience is an opportunity to gather and store insight, discernment, and appreciation.

Authenticity.

We’re all accountable together – I promise you’ll always get the real me.

Purpose.

You are called to make a unique impact in every moment.
